Kekkei Genkai: Byakugan and the Gentle Fist
From birth, all clan members have completely white eyes where the pupil is only separated with a hardly noticeable line.
The white eye is called the Byakugan. When activated, large veins appear around the eyes as chakra is pumped into them. The eye gives the clan member multiple abilities:
- 360 degree vision with just a small, cone-shaped blind spot in the back of the neck on the third vertebra.
- The ability to see chakra and the Tenketsu (acupuncture points).
- The ability to see very far away in the whole 360 degree area. Genin can see about 100 meters, Chuunin 400 and Jounin 1000 and S-rank 5000 meters.
- The ability to see through solid objects in the whole area of sight. They cannot see through chakra barriers.
The ability of seeing chakra and the Tenketsu allows the Hyuuga member to use a special Taijutsu style called the Gentle Fist. Instead of focusing on physical damage, it relies on hitting the pinprick-sized Tenketsu to stop the opponent from using chakra. The damage done to the Tenketsu also hurts the internal organs, which are connected to the chakra network.
Most members of the clan also have extremely precise chakra control.

Description: This special style attacks the opponent's chakra system with quick jabs targeted at the 361 Tenketsu, or the acupuncture points as many call them. By hitting the Tenketsu, the user can stop the opponent from using chakra through them. When all the Tenketsu are closed, the opponent can't use chakra at all. The Tenketsu points open in five posts. The attacks also deal great damage to internal organs, which are all connected to the chakra network. So, even if a person would have no external injury or wounds, they could still be dying from the attack. When all Tenketsu are closed, the victim dies immediately. The style is usually learned at around the age of 8 or when the child first is able to activate their Byakugan whichever comes first.

Description: This style was invented by the Lost Hyuuga clan. It employs the use of a 6’ rod-like staff made from chakra-conductive metal allowing the wielder to perform Juuken techniques using the staff instead of their hands. NOTE: directly striking the tenketsu is impossible using the staff, they are too small and the staff’s head is too large for that level of precision and accuracy rather, the staff is used as a conduit for the user’s chakra allowing them to effect the opponent and attack them at longer range or more precisely block incoming attacks. This skill is not taught until one has become very good at Gentle Fist (Juuken), and then only if the child iss above the age of 15.

Description: By using the Byakugan, the user jabs thirty-two of the opponent's Tenketsu at such speeds that it can only be seen as a blur. Thus, thirty-two of the opponent's Tenketsu are closed, and they cannot use chakra through them anymore. The user gets to choose what areas they strike, as long as they are on the same side as the user. No matter what points are jabbed, the opponent feels slight pain in their internal organs.

Description: By using the Byakugan, the user jabs all three hundred sixty-one of the opponent's Tenketsu at such speeds that it can hardly be seen. When the user hits the final Tenketsu on the opponent's forehead, they die immediately. However, this technique is so stressful, that the user will most likely faint immediately after using it, and if they are seriously injured they most likely won't even be able to use it at all.

Description: Shugo Hakke Rokujuuyonshou is a Taijutsu technique developed by Hyuuga JinJekkai while he was “experimenting” with Hakke Rokujuuyonshou - Eight Divination Signs, Sixty-Four Palms of the Hand. Utilizing the Hakke Rokujuuyonshou style, Jinjekkai uses his flexibility and precise chakra control to create an absolute defense.
Jinjekkai will emit chakra from his palms and move his arms in sweeping pattern movements to provide a full 360 degree range of protection for his body. The motion of his hands and his precise emission of chakra allow him to create a barrier similar to Hakkeshou Kaiten - Eight Divination Palms of the Hand, Heavenly Spin with one major difference. Unlike Hakkeshou Kaiten - Eight Divination Palms of the Hand, Heavenly Spin, Shugo Hakke Rokujuuyonshou - Guardian Eight Divination Signs, Sixty-Four Palms of the Hand can be manipulated in its strength. The Heavenly Spin technique provides an extremely strong defense against whatever strength incoming attack is posed, Guardian technique’s defensive power depends on the amount of chakra emitted from the user, allowing Jinjekkai to emit the exact amount of chakra necessary to stop the attack without wasting chakra in an all out Heavenly Spin. On the downside this technique takes a few seconds longer to prepare than heavenly spin and therefore Heavenly Spin is the Go-To option for deflecting a first, unexpected attack.

Description: Hakke Su, is used by all Hyuuga clan members to some degree. It is a state of being in which the tenketsu of the user are always open, creating a thin layer of chakra around the user. This is a similar effect to the minute amounts of chakra constantly directed in all directions (save the very back of the head) that allows hyuuga to have 360degrees (nearly) of perception. This layer of chakra covers the user, creating a barrier of chakra between the user and the outside world. It can be shut off but that requires effort, it is naturally there on all hyuuga because of the open state of their tenketsu and requires no chakra to just be there.
Example: Shippuden, when Hinata is trapped in a crystal jutsu she is not crystallized because she manipulates this naturally occurring barrier to keep the crystal from entering her body.
This demonstrates the first use of this naturally occurring barrier, the C ranked use. The barrier can be used as a last resort instant shield against chakra based attacks (or elemental attacks that are chakra induced). This provides VERY MINIMAL protection against the effects of these attacks and is only practical for escaping from trap jutsu.
The first B ranked use of this technique has to do with a further manipulation of the tenketsu in their releasing chakra into a barrier around the body, individual tenketsu can be manipulated to project chakra from this field out in a very thin slicing manner and can be used to get out of trap type Jutsu.
Example: Hinata when she is trapped in bee wax uses this technique to cut through the chakra-induced wax and free herself.
The second application of the B ranked version of this technique has to do with Genjutsu. First Genjutsu must be understood, it is, in short, a manipulation of an opponent's chakra network in their brain to cause them to have an incorrect view of reality (can affect all 5 senses offensively through pain or defensively through turning them off). This chakra field released from the tenketsu is the Hyuuga's only defense against genjutsu. with byakugan the hyuuga can see chakra networks, and have almost 360 degrees of perception, allowing them to see their own chakra network. They are also naturally masters of chakra control. But it is the field of chakra given off by the tenketsu that allow them to notice, not necessarily avoid, genjutsu. Here is how this works: Any genjutsu creates a slight change in the user's chakra flow, because a Hyuuga's chakra flow is constant in creating a bubble of perception and a thin barrier around the user, any change to the flow is noticed instantly, no matter how small. Hence any genjutsu attempt would be instantly noticed, however, this does not mean that the hyuuga is necessarily able to escape from the jutsu. One way of escaping a Genjutsu, however, is to cut off the chakra flow to your brain for a moment and then re-initialize it, something the hyuuga, with their precise chakra control, could do easily. This is one reason that ocular abilities are so powerful.
The only examples of Genjutsu that cannot be broken that way and still affect a hyuuga would be the Sharingan's ocular genjutsu, and the ocular genjutsu of Ronmaru in the anime (the kid with the red glowing eyes that rides around with Raiga one of the seven swords men, remember?).
Name: Shugo Hakke Rokukaitenshou – Slicing Blade Eight Divination Signs, Sixty-Four Palms of the Hand

Description: Shugo Hakke Rokukaitenshou is a Taijutsu technique developed by Hyuuga JinJekkai while he was “experimenting” with Hakke Rokujuuyonshou - Eight Divination Signs, Sixty-Four Palms of the Hand. Utilizing the Hakke Rokujuuyonshou style, Jinjekkai uses his flexibility and precise chakra control to emit chakra in similar fashion to the Guardian Technique above with the exception that he is no longer emitting the chakra as an inert barrier but rather as a chakra beam as thin as a single tenketsu. This emitted chakra is extremely dense and its thinness allows it to cut through most any physical object. When moved in the same pattern as the Guardian Technique it forms an offensive barrier that projects 2meters from the palm of the hand, cutting anything that comes that close to the user. The downside of this attack is that it will not cause internal damage to an opponent and is easily deflected or rendered useless by any manipulation on the part of the opponent to force his chakra to act as a barrier between his skin and the beam. Still, it makes cutting through locks and chopping down trees very easy.

Description: Hakke Rokujuuyonshou is a Taijutsu technique unique to the Hyuuga bloodline. Hakke Rokujuuyonshou is a special technique passed down through the main family line. When an opponent is within the clan members divination field of attack, they can quickly begin their assault. The technique allows the clan member to use the Byakugan eye to see the inner chakra coils system. Using the Juuken style, they can force their chakra through their hands into the tenketsu of the opponent's body through 126 strikes. First the clan member will strike 2 times, then 4, 8, 16, 32 and finally 64. This damage forcibly closes 64 tenketsu, stopping the chakra flow of the opponent. This then limits their opponent’s ability to use jutsu. During the attack the speed of the Hyuuga member’s body accelerates past the ability of the mind to direct, at least the mind of a normal person, this is where the Byakugan is key. The Byakugan allows the user to move at a speed which the normal person’s mind could not process fast enough, it accelerates the responses between nerve endings and the brain to such an extent that to the user it seems things move in slow motion, allowing the user to decimate an opponent with a flurry of strikes so quick that dodging is virtually impossible. (Note: the Sharingan has a similar slowing effect allowing the perfect copying of Jutsu and the ability to dodge and counter attacks virtually before they happen).

Description: Hakke Hyakunijuuhachishou is a Taijutsu technique unique to the Hyuuga bloodline. Hakke Hyakunijuuhachishou is a variation of Hakke Rokujuuyonshou, a technique passed down through the main family line. When an opponent is within the clan members divination field of attack, they can quickly begin their assault. The technique allows the clan member to use the Byakugan eye to make nearly double the normal 126 strikes, striking 254 times against their individual foe or opponents. First the clan member will strike 2 times, then 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 and finally 128 times. This damage forcibly closes 128 tenketsu, stopping the chakra flow of the opponent. This then severely limits their opponent’s ability to use jutsu and often causes severe internal injury. During the attack the speed of the Hyuuga member’s body accelerates far past the ability of the mind to direct, at least the mind of a normal person, this is where the Byakugan is key. The Byakugan allows the user to move at a speed which the normal person’s mind could not process fast enough, it accelerates the responses between nerve endings and the brain to such an extent that to the user it seems things move in extreme slow motion, allowing the user to decimate an opponent with a flurry of strikes so quick that dodging is virtually impossible. (Note: The prolonged use of this skill (prolonged meaning using it for longer than the few seconds it takes to perform the jutsu) will cause irreparable brain damage.

Description: Hakke Kuushou is a ranged Taijutsu technique utilized by Hyuuga Jinjekkai. Extending chakra from his body, Jinjekkai will thrust his palm at his target. This will send out an invisible wave of chakra-air that can knock his opponent back. Due to the imprecise blunt force of this attack it cannot be used to seal the opponent’s tenketsu. As with all Gentle Fist techniques, Hakke Kuushou - Eight Divination Signs Air Palm deals minimal physical damage to the user and the force of its knockback is not great, however, it deals significant damage to the opponents internal organs and tissue. Air Palm requires affinity with the Wind element and is only effective up to 15meters unlike most wind-style attacks which can be used up to 50meters or more.

Description: Hakkeshou Kaiten is a Taijutsu technique unique to the Hyuuga bloodline using the Juuken. Kaiten is a special technique passed down through the main family line. Kaiten takes advantage of several of the unique abilities of the Byakugan eye. Byakugan gives the clan member an almost complete 360 degree view of their surroundings. This allows the member to see all angles of attack. If an attack is near, the clan member will release a large of amount of chakra from their tenketsu. The member then begins to spin like a top, creating a whirling vortex that can nullify almost any attack. The spin can be kept up so long as the user has chakra to emit from their tenketsu and can deflect most any physical or chakra based attack from all angles, even below the user’s own feet.

Description: Hakke Hageki is a Taijutsu technique utilized by Hyuuga Jinjekkai. Extending chakra from his body, Jin will thrust his palm into his target. This will send out a wave of chakra that will knock his opponent forcefully backwards. This is perhaps the only Gentle Fist technique that causes great physical damage internally and externally. Unlike most Gentle Fist techniques, the Destructive Fist technique utilizes the user’s chakra to add great strength and speed to the user’s fist and arm, allowing a powerful punch capable of shattering rock to be used. Not only is the punch itself forceful, but in addition to the physical force of the blow, the user emits chakra from his/her tenketsu at the moment of impact causing great harm to the opponent’s internal organs.

Description: Hakke Hageki is a Taijutsu technique utilized by Hyuuga Jinjekkai. This S ranked technique has two parts, first the use of the earth element in performing a B ranked Earthstyle Jutsu known as Kouka Jutsu – Iron Skin Technique which hardens the user’s skin into the density of iron. When the destructive force of Destructive Fist is added to the rock-like density of the Iron Skin Technique a formidable A ranked technique is created. The blow connected with this attack is capable of shattering most any object and the increased chakra output required for it is well capable of turning the user’s opponent’s insides to mush. This skill requires very precise chakra control, great speed, and an affinity with the earth element. This skill is not as focused as Destructive Fist and therefore has a sweeping arc of chakra in the attack. This creates a cone effect of the attack, damaging everything at which it is directed within a 20degree angle, making it even harder to dodge.

Description: A Jutsu adapted from the Hakkeshou Kaiten - Eight Divination Palms of the Hand, Heavenly Spin, Dancing Staff Rotation is used by Hyuuga Jinjekkai. Jinjekkai spins his staff in front of him at great speed while emitting chakra from his tenketsu into the staff forming a barrier of spinning much like Hakkeshou Kaiten - Eight Divination Palms of the Hand, Heavenly Spin in front of himself. This barrier requires far less chakra exertion than Hakkeshou Kaiten - Eight Divination Palms of the Hand, Heavenly Spin and is capable of blocking most any chakra or physically based attack. It requires an advanced ability with the Bo staff and very precise Chakra control and only protects from one direction.

Description: Juuken (gentle fist) fighting style. By focusing the chakra to their finger tips, they can press the tenketsu or chakra pressure points of their opponent’s body. When the finger nears the tenketsu the chakra is forced out, collapsing the targeted tenketsu for a period of time. The tenketsu serve as the connectors and exit points for the chakra pathways. So when they are stopped by the Hyuuga clan member, the ninja greatly loses his or her ability to utilize their chakra for jutsu. Aside from the ability to close an opponent’s chakra pathways, which requires precise accuracy and minute chakra control, Hyuuga members can also attack an opponent more broadly by blasting chakra from their tenketsu into the opponent’s body causing great damage to the opponent’s internal organs. Because of the sweeping nature of the chakra emitted by the user, even a near miss is capable of causing lethal damage to the opponent’s inner body.

Description: Each clan member possess the "Byakugan" or "White Eye." When the "Byakugan" is activated, the clan member gains an extra-sensory perception, which gives them penetrating sight and telescopic vision. This allows them to see the internal chakra circulation system in other beings. This vision also grants the member a near 360° view of their surroundings. The higher the skill of the clan member, the further the distance from which they can sense incoming attacks. Unfortunately the vision does have a weakness, a small blind spot that extends outwards from their upper back. The clan uses this ability in conjunction with their own chakra creating the Juuken (gentle fist) fighting style. Jinjekkai has experimented with this jutsu to produce an improved version of this jutsu (Byakugantsu Below).
Clan History
(The Political Fallout): During the beginning of the Great War, the Hyuuga family was divided into two factions, those that opposed participation in the war and those that welcomed it. The main branch family itself was divided, not yet ruled by a single individual because of its large size (it was actually a lot larger than the Hyuuga compound in the series because a lot of them got whipped out in the war, that’s when they became very protective of their bloodline and when they were ruled by a single member of the main branch, back in this day they were ruled by a council of 30 elders). Twelve elders wanted to pursue a pacifist existence and leave all warring to be done by other nations. The other eighteen decided that it would be good to go to war; the clan could expand its territory and make a name for itself. The political battle was bitter in both the main and side branch families. Recognizing that this infighting would be their undoing the elders met for a last time and it was decided that the clan would split, those that wanted a peaceful existence would be exiled, forbidden ever to return to their homes or family. They were not marked with a curse mark as this practice only came about after the great war and the devastation of the Hyuuga clan’s numbers (almost 300 strong before the war and the split, only around 100 survivors of the war). The group that was exiled called itself the Lost Hyuuga Clan, but were forbidden to ever let anyone know of their bloodline or to take any of the scrolls of history or Jutsu with them. Therefore they decided to build a monastery out in the middle of a dense forest 50miles north of Tanzuka town and settle there. After they finished building the twelve elders that were part of that group got together and from memory tried to write out all the history and jutsu they could remember. Some history was lost, some Jutsu was lost, such was the price of leaving the main clan. They decided that all the members of the monastery would wear blindfolds of dark cloth and act as if they were blind even though they could see using their Byakugan. In this way the Lost Hyuuga clan have hidden themselves from suspicion if anyone is watching them, they refer to themselves only as the Blind Brethren (even though they are male and female).
Clan History(after splitting from main clan and creating the monastery): In the early days they left the monastery now and then in disguise, spreading rumors about themselves, that they gouged out the eyes of their children at birth, and other rumors to keep travelers and the curious away. Throughout the war they were almost never visited by anyone except the occasional missing ninja seeking betterment of all mankind. It was under this proclamation that they were welcomed by all who received them and became known as the peaceful blind men and women of the forest. They never allowed anyone to visit them and some became suspicious, but having never done anything to provoke anyone, suspicions were often dropped. They raised children, Jinjekkai among them, and taught them the ways of pacifism and peace. Yet they also taught them the ways of warfare and battle, keeping the traditional fighting style of the Gentle Fist alive and well in their offspring. Ten years after the beginning of the war, Jin was only four years old, the clan discovered Chakra Conductive metal in the caves to the east. This metal was highly coveted and sought after by the warring villages to craft into weapons and armor. After long debate the Lost Hyuuga decided to mine the metal in secret, enough to make walking staffs for them and their children and a few extra, then they collapsed the mine with explosives and never spoke of it again for fear that it would bring the war down on top of them. It was then that the fighting style of Bo-Kaitsu no Jutsu was developed. The Hyuuga bloodline's natural ability to shape and emit chakra was combined with Taijutsu and Bo-Staff combat. As the war seemed to come to an end, Jin was seven years old, the clan began to teach the children defensive and offensive Taijutsu and Bo-Kaitsu no Jutsu much more rigorously than ever before, creating their own form of an academy and training the children up to eight hours a day, besides that the children were encouraged to practice whenever they had free time. They believed that the end of the war leave them exposed to the world, unable to hide in the woods while everyone else fought one another. They also feared that the Main Clan would find them again and perhaps exterminate them for keeping up the traditions and jutsu of the Hyuuga Bloodline.
The Houses: The system of two houses was abandoned by the Lost Hyuuga, they do not make a distinction between main branch and side branch families; rather, everyone is equal except in the area of skill and natural ability with the bloodline.
